ABOUT

Darrah Cloud has worked in the theatre, television and film for 30 years. She began with The House Across the Street, the tale of a nice suburban family living across the street from famed serial killer John Wayne Gacy, produced by Ensemble Studio Theatre. Next came a production of The Stick Wife at LA Theatre Center. This launched her film career, and she wrote numerous movies for television as well as the screen version of The Stick Wife. In addition, she continued writing plays and musicals, among them the stage adaptation of O Pioneers! with composer Kim D. Sherman, The Mud Angel, directed by Kevin Kuhlke, Dream House, The Sirens, Honor Song for Crazy Horse, HeartLand, and Makeover, produced at numerous theatres such as The Manhattan Theatre Club, Theatreworks Palo Alto, Berkeley Rep, The Huntington, Victiory Gardens... and three plays for children: The Boxcar Children (musical), What's Bugging Greg? and Joan the Girl of Arc, the latter two commissioned by Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park.

 

Cloud has won numerous awards including an NEA, a Rockefeller,​ and a Gilman Gonzalez-Falla Award for musical theatre... She is an alum of New Dramatists and a graduate of the Writer's Workshop at the University of Iowa.
